Morrison and Pinkerous Share Sunshine National Glory
Marion County Speedway hosted a rain plagued Super National Weekend February 5-7 that saw New Jersey’s
Brayden Morrison and New York’s Brock Pinkerous invade sunny Florida with much success.
Friday’s program was hit with intermediate rain leaving everyone looking forward to better fortunes on Saturday. When cars got on the track Saturday it wasn’t long before rain began and quickly turned to torrential downpour washing out hopes of racing Saturday.
Sunday was the day. Racing started early morning with two races planned. Brayden Morrison jumped to the early race lead in the feature event and was able to put a little bit of distance between himself and Brock Pinkerous. As the event progressed Pinkerous was able to close, but never got close enough to challenge Morrison as he took the opening event of the 2021 Slingshot season. Pinkerous was second followed by Madyson Tugmon on the podium. Joe Lewis and Noah Lewis rounded out the top five and Cayson Broxton finished sixth.
In the second event Brock Pinkerous was quick to bolt into the race lead. Once Pinkerous was in the front he didn’t look back take the victory in the second feature of the weekend. Brayden Morrison was second. Madyson Tugmon finished third. Noah Lewis and Joe Lewis rounded out the top five finishers.
The Slingshots will return to action within the month of February in Florida and will continue the Sunshine region touring series on March 12 at the South Raceway in Milton, Florida.
