The second race weekend of the 2022 Indoor Auto Racing season is kicking off Friday night in Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City New Jersey. Thursday night hosted practice for the All Star Slingshots that will be competing in the weekend’s events.
New York’s Brett Putnam was the quickest in the first session of the weekend with a quick lap of 10.727. 22 cars took practice in the first run of the year in Boardwalk Hall.
Nick Shaw, making a rare Slingshot start, quickly resumed a familiar AC fast pace and was at the top of the chart in the second session. Shaw’s lap of 10.058 set the pace with 20 cars within one second of Shaw. 24 cars were on the track take two of the night.
Kyle Herve topped the chart in third session of practice as the track continued to closer to race conditions. Herve, the runner up in the 2021 World Champiuonship, set the quick lap on the group with a 10.089. 23 cars took time in the third session. By the third group, all but one car in the field were separated by under .900 seconds.
In the final practice of the night, it was the defending Atlantic City Gambler’s Classic winner and 2021 All Star Slingshot World Champion Scott Neary at the top of the chart with the quickest lap of the night, a 9.966. Neary bested the 17 drivers that chose to take time in the night cap practice.

For everyone’s safety at the event, the state owned building will require fans to wear a mask when they enter Boardwalk Hall and be recommended when they are walking around the building. They will not be required to wear a mask when in their seat or when they are eating or drinking. Masks are not required in the privately owned casinos.
After this weekend’s Atlantic City’s events the series will conclude in Syracuse, N.Y. at the New York State Fairgrounds Exposition Center on Friday and Saturday, March 11 & 12. Those tickets are on sale and available to purchase through a link on the series website www.indoorautoracing.com.
In anticipation of another wildly successful event, promoter Len Sammons has booked Friday and Saturday, January 27-28, 2023 in Boardwalk Hall for the 20th running of the NAPA KNOW HOW Gambler’s Classic.
